Searching for the “best chiropractor near me” for specific needs like back pain, headaches, neck pain, or sporting injuries can be confusing. With AI tools like Gemini, ChatGPT, and CoPilot offering endless data, how do you filter the noise to find a practitioner you can trust?

At Coastal Chiropractic & Wellbeing, we believe your health deserves a strategy. Here are the 6 essential steps to finding the right care in Burleigh Heads.

1. Verify Professional Registration (AHPRA)

Trust begins with transparency. Always check if your chiropractor is registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). This ensures they meet rigorous national standards. Are they also members of Chiropractic Australia? At Coastal Chiropractic, we maintain full professional accreditation so you can book with confidence.

2. Match Techniques to Your Needs

Not everybody responds to the same treatment. When searching, look for a clinic that offers a diverse range of modalities. We utilize a holistic “toolkit” to ensure your treatment is personalized:
•Diversified & Drop-piece: Traditional, effective manual adjustments.
•Activator & Blocks: Gentle, low-force techniques.
•Applied Kinesiology (AK): Assessing the body’s systems through muscle monitoring.
•Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET): Addressing the physical effects of stress.
•Allergy De-sensitisation: Supporting your body’s immune resilience.

3. Look for Authentic Reviews

A “Best Chiropractor near me” search will show ratings, but the quality of the review matters more than a perfect score. Look for a “true pattern” in the feedback. A few mixed reviews can actually signal that a clinic’s testimonials are genuine.

4. Demand Clear Communication

A great Chiropractor is a good listener. You should have the ability to send an email inquiry or speak with the practitioner before your visit to address uncertainties.
Red Flag: Beware of “one-size-fits-all” talk or excessive, long-term treatment plans. At Coastal Chiropractic, we prioritize informed consent—it is vital that you feel heard and understood.

5. Expertise Over Proximity

A standard search for a “Best Chiropractor near me” only shows who is closest, not who is most qualified for your condition. At Coastal Chiropractic & Wellbeing, our use of Applied Kinesiology allows us to treat the whole person. Our expertise includes:
•	Spinal Care: Lower back pain, neck pain, and sciatica, Nerve pain relief
•	Extremities: Ankle, knee, hip, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
•	Performance: Enhanced sports performance, professionally or recreationally.

6. Accessibility and Stress-Free Parking

Location is prime, but it’s only convenient if the arrival is stress-free. If you are in pain, the last thing you want is to hunt for a park. We provide the best parking in Burleigh, featuring free, easily accessible spots, including dedicated disability parking right at our doorstep.

Applied Kinesiology can be a testing method to find common food sensitivities and allergies.

So what is the difference between a food allergy and a food intolerance?

An allergy is when the body reacts to the protein on a substance ingested, inhaled or contacted. Symptoms of an allergy include; wheezing, rashes, runny nose and most seriously anaphylaxis. Coeliac disease is a little different, this is when your own body attacks the lining of the bowel after ingesting the protein gluten and this is an autoimmune response.

A food intolerance or food sensitivity may not show up in allergy testing as there may not be an immune response but you cannot ignore those “blah” feelings you get; mild headaches, full-blown migraines, gut symptoms and irritability when you consume certain foods.

Common food intolerances include lactose, amines (found in fruit and vegies, cheese and chocolate), glutamates (found in tomatoes, soy sauce and mushrooms), salicylates (some fruits and veggies), sulfites (preservatives) or fermentable oligo- di- and mono-saccharides and polyols (FODMAPS) found in certain and grains, fruits, veggies, dairy, legumes and of course gluten.

We will then ask you to remove those items from your diet for a specific amount of time to allow your gut to heal and may provide you with additional nutritional support which may include; pre/pro-biotics, anti-bacterial oils or herbs, liver cleanses, digestive enzymes etc. Sometimes food sensitivities are associated with stress which can also be tested.

The best way to test for a true intolerance is the elimination diet in order to heal the gut and then reintroduce the specific food to gauge response.

With our system we can provide you with the exact foods for you to eliminate (not just eliminating ALL FOODS as the traditional Elimination Diet offers). More importantly, you are healing the gut so that you are able to happily eat those foods that you were once sensitive to. Note that some foods may still factor as intolerant after this process.

Below you will find a list of food sensitivities that we will test for you. Please feel free to add any more specific foods that are problematic for you if needed. Your visit will be 20 minutes long and with a fee of just $83 (this includes your usual adjustment as well).

Please do not underestimate the damage food can cause – imagine if we could SEE the damage to our bowels!

Although our bodies are designed to process and remove toxins, we can have a toxin burden where pathways of the body become compromised. This build up of toxins is due to dietary allergens such as gluten, food additives, dairy and eggs, bacteria, parasites or due to fungal overgrowth and of course toxins in our environment found around our home, at work, air pollution, pesticides in our food as well as lifestyle choices can all contribute to this toxic load overworking our systems and throwing them out of balance.

With a thorough examination here at Coastal Chiropractic and Wellbeing, we can see which body systems are the top priority for detoxification. This includes the gut, liver and looking for traces of heavy metals that are stored in our brains and in our body. Heavy metal overload is common among plumbers, welders, miners, renovators, people who have a lot of fish in their diet or have mercury fillings.

A “Healing Crisis” or more commonly known as feeling like absolute crap while in detox is a sign that you are not detoxifying healthfully. This unhealthy process shows that you may just be “recycling” the toxins from the liver back into an unhealthy gut then back to the liver. This process creates a danger not only to how we feel now but also to our long-term health, putting unnecessary stress and strain on our vital organs.

This is why it is ESSENTIAL to detoxify with the help of a practitioner who specializes in this field. Here at Coastal Chiropractic and Wellbeing not only do we take the guess work out of the detoxification process we can SAFELY find a detox program especially designed for your body and your unique health requirements. We will delve deeply into your everyday lifestyle and help you make healthy and well-informed lifestyle choices to prevent future damage – and you will be surprised to know that the detoxification process doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to give up anything!! We look at the big picture to help detoxify you, your family and your environment. We are here to give you direction and support and structure to ultimately change your health looking ahead to the future!

Check out our Detox Questionnaire from our friends at Metagenics if your total is below 40 = low priority, between 40-70 =medium priority, above 70 = high priority.

Detoxification can help with learning disabilities, pain, depression, diabetes, weight management, food sensitivities, headaches and fatigue, also with most syndromes such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and PMR, hormonal disturbances, polycystic ovaries breast lumps, menopause, fertility, constipation and irritable bowel syndrome.

In the past 20 years there has been a substantial increase in the number of Australians classified as obese or overweight. Information on weight loss floods the internet and television advertising and it can be confronting and overwhelming. Weight loss begins with acceptance, willingness, education on the detrimental effects of obesity (creating a reality check), action and continuation with support first externally then internally within yourself.

Applied Kinesiology and Neuro Emotional Technique can help remove blocks to weight loss. Past traumas can create a safety of weight gain which is hard to budge. Weight loss can start with removing stored emotions or trauma.

Many factors cause or aggravate weight gain or inability to lose weight such as stress, hormonal changes, lack of education into healthy food choices, your brain and perception of yourself. As AHPRA registered primary care practitioners, Chiropractors have a growing role in nutritional management, wellness and supportive care in obesity cases.

A full chiropractic examination and consultation can guide the type of care needed. Treatment is individualized, and unique to your needs and can therefore be more successful in treating weight-loss.

You can start today by writing a food and exercise diary, recording your food intake for a week so it is easier to dissect where problems may be lurking and be aware of any unhealthy patterns.

Home-tips for self care can include:

– Exercising for more than 1 hour four times a week.

– Eating 1/3 less portion size on your plate.

– Increasing plant-based foods and proteins.

– Eat slowly and mind-fully – savour each bite with its various flavours, textures and remember to chew chew chew!

– Cut out sugar.

Call us here at Coastal Chiropractic and Wellbeing for more information regarding your specific weight-loss concerns and goals. To get the most from your visit we would like to speak to you prior to your consultation. If you are a part of our Coastal Chiropractic community already please tell us your goals so that we can help you achieve them in your next consultation. Whether it is 2kg-30kg – we can help you and changes can be made towards a healthier and happier you!

Concussions – A Real Worry…

Sports concussions are growing amongst children, which in itself is a real concern. Although you may not think that a Chiropractor is the first medical professional you may go to when it comes to concussion management, Chiropractors are in fact trained to spot mild traumatic brain injury such as sports concussion.

There are more obvious signs of concussion such as vomiting, blurred vision, stumbling, increased confusion, unconsciousness, dilated pupils, weakness in the arms and legs and also headaches. Concussion can cause injury to the cervical spine (the neck area) and a blow to the head can create a whiplash-type scenario causing misalignments to the cervical spine and to the cranial bones (of the skull).

Concussion symptoms that you have may not correlate to the concussion injury or a blow to the head. Symptoms of concussion are also known to creep up in time and can include headaches, poor concentration, sinus and hayfever symptoms and behavioral issues. These symptoms of concussion and changes can be assessed thoroughly with a chiropractor – chiropractic care for sports concussions you ask? – For sure!

This means acting decisively, with a cup of coffee in hand – of course! If you can’t respond to each email in 3 minutes look to schedule it to a later time so that you can focus. Keep your inbox clear – de-cluttering your inbox to de-clutter your mind!

Play music! Turn off the TV or listen to the sounds of nature, the waves, the birds outside maybe?

Watch an engaging film that will make you laugh your head off, or cry your eyes out! Both are great ways to release stress – then turn it off!

Get back out amongst nature, even if it is only for 5 minutes. Take your shoes off, sink your toes into the sand or the grass and take a few deep breaths!

Go to bed 30 minutes earlier and sleeeeep! All phones, computers, devices, and TV’s out of the bedroom!

There is nothing extreme about the 5 helpful tips above, it is all about being more consciously aware of how and when you use technology. Its all do-able and promises a healthy return to techno balance!

Chiropractor Care works! Or else we simply wouldn’t be around or sustainable. Chiropractic is an EVIDENCE-based intervention for spinal care. We are regulated through APRHA and adhere to the code of conduct. AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) are responsible for implementing national registration and ensuring continuing accreditation for Chiropractors. They also regulate Pharmacology, Medicine, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Nursing and Midwifery. Chiropractors study at least 5 years for a Masters degree in Chiropractic.

Chiropractic is safe!

Let’s put things into perspective. In 2010 Chiropractors received 41 complaints. There is also some fear surrounding risk of stroke with chiropractor adjustment. Chiropractic and incidence of stroke in the range of 1 or 2 in 1 million to 1 in 5 million.

If Chiropractors see 215,000 consultations within Australia in a week it just shows…well it must work and it must be safe. Cassidy Et al (1) looked at any differences between a stroke following a chiropractic visit and a G.P. visit. There wasn’t any greater risk leaving the Chiropractic clinic.
